August in Wisconsin brings warm temperatures and peak sunflower season. Here are the top 3 fields in the surrounding area:
Sopa Fairview Farm in Amherst
A fourth-generation family farm, Sopa Fairview Farm’s sunflowers just began opening Aug. 15, and peak is expected within the next 7 days. Hidden along Old Amish Highway, you’ll find 45 acres of rolling hills covered in blooms. There is no admission fee; however, donations are highly encouraged to help support the farm. The field is open daily sunrise to sunset. The farm is hosting a new event this year, yoga in the field, wine nights and morning coffee to watch sunrise over the field. Find more information by visiting Sopa Fairview Farm on Facebook.
Sommers Sunflowers
Just off Highway 10 and County Highway J, you'll find a couple of fields in bloom! The Sommers family has two fields in this area. Their second field just began blooming recently and should be ready for photos and a visit for the next couple of weeks. There is no admission fee, but donations are encouraged.
Auburndale School Forest
A bit further out, but equally as beautiful are the fields at Auburndale School Forest in Auburndale. This field is planted and maintained by the Auburndale FFA program and has 4.5 acres of flowers currently in bloom. This field offers many opportunities for photos from the platform to the bridge to a truck and more. Visit their event page on Facebook to learn more.
