Here's what you can't miss at Celebrate Plover!

Entertainment

New to Celebrate Plover this year, The Ramble will kick off the weekend festivities on Friday evening at 6 p.m. The Ramble is a country cover band (with a sprinkle of originals) from Brooklyn, WI.  The Ramble gravitates towards 90’s-2000’s country. Saturday will be packed with a variety of entertainment options. Entertainment will begin at 11 a.m. with a tribute to our Veterans under the bandshell.  A performance by Dance Dynamics begins at 11:15 a.m. The Ultimate Polka Band will take the stage at 2 p.m. for an afternoon performance. Then, back by popular demand, Grand Union will round out Saturday evening’s entertainment, kicking off at 8 p.m. and playing until midnight.

Fireworks Show

It’s been said that Celebrate Plover has the best fireworks display in Central Wisconsin so why miss it? Just shy of a half hour, the show is choreographed to music with an unbelievable water display on Lake Pacawa. The best place to be is at the park so you don’t miss out on any of the surprises that are in store!

Car Show

Enjoy a "cruise in" on Friday evening with about 100 cars brought to you by Jack Stand Racin' Car Club. Kids are invited to vote for their favorite car! Plaques will be presented to the “Kid’s Choice” and “People’s Choice”.  There will be 50/50 raffles and basket raffles.  All funds raised are divided equally to support K9 units throughout Portage County.

The car show is dependent on the weather.  The most up to date information can be found by following Celebrate Plover or Jack Stand Racin' Car Club on Facebook.

Want to participate? The meeting point is the Antique Up parking lot, located at 3256 Church Street in Stevens Point.  Meeting time is 4:15-4:30pm, departing for Lake Pacawa Park at 4:45pm for a 5:00pm arrival. There is room for approximately 100 cars so pre-registration is suggested but not required.  To register, contact: Tim Hoerter (715) 347-0904 or Sheri Hoerter (715) 630-6665.  Texts are welcomed. You may also register the day of the car show, Friday, July 26.

Balloon Glow

Back for year 2 at Celebrate Plover, is a balloon flight and glow!  You will have the chance to see these balloons both nights!  There will be six balloons on display each night.  Balloons will take flight at 6:30 p.m. - be there to see them lift off!  At dusk, the balloons will glow!  Feel free to bring your lawn chairs to watch these beautiful balloons!  The balloon pilots will have trading cards to pass out to admirers of all ages!

Water Fights

So, how do water fights work anyway? An empty barrel beer keg is strung from a cable 15 feet in the air and stretching 100 feet across.  Two teams of firefighters are positioned on each side of the barrel.  The referee signals and the teams spray their firehouses on the barrel with the goal of pushing the barrel toward their opponents, thus winning the round.  The team winning two out of three advances.  The two remaining teams compete in the final round resulting in the Water Fights Champion being crowned! During the battles the audience cheers on their favorite team – and be aware, you may get wet depending on the way the wind blows! Come see which fire department will claim the victory!

Fire departments who want to enter the competition should contact the Plover Fire Department at (715) 345-5310.

Youth Activities

One of the best parts of Celebrate Plover is the activities offered for the youth in our community.  All activities are sponsored by McCain Foods.  With their generous sponsorship, we are happy to offer the many FREE activities such as inflatable rides, face painting, balloon twisters and more! Thank you to the Boys and Girls Club of Portage County for planning and staffing the activities for our event!
